Don’t Just Work—Dream Forward

Richard Huxley, M.Ed, LSSBB, CEC

“Every great dream begins with a dreamer.” Harriet Tubman’s words remind us that the most powerful journeys begin not with a plan, but with a spark, a belief that something greater is possible. Harriet Tubman risked everything because she believed in freedom, in purpose, and in a future that didn’t yet exist. Her courage wasn’t rooted in certainty; it was rooted in vision. That same courage lives in anyone who dares to dream of something more for their life, even when the path forward feels uncertain or unseen.

If you feel stuck in your career, remember this: being a dreamer isn’t about escaping; it’s about awakening. It’s the moment you stop settling and start imagining what could be. Every career change, every leap of faith, begins with one decision: to believe your dream is worth pursuing. You don’t need the whole map to start moving; you just need the conviction to take the first step.

Reflection: What dream have you been silencing because fear or comfort told you to stay put? Maybe today’s the day you start believing in it again.
